Temp mail for Twitch

Twitch lets you watch anonymously but not chat, and chatting is the whole reason most people make an account. Verification is a single email link, which makes a temporary inbox enough for everything except streaming yourself.

How to sign up

  1. Generate an inbox here and copy the address.
  2. Open the Twitch sign-up form and choose the email tab instead of the phone tab.
  3. Fill in a username and date of birth, then paste the address and submit.
  4. Open the verification mail in this inbox and click the link before it expires.

What it costs you

Trade-offMany channels restrict chat to accounts with a verified phone number, which is a channel setting rather than a Twitch requirement, and no email address satisfies it. Streaming and monetisation also require a phone number and, later, real payout details.

Questions

Can I chat on Twitch without verifying my email?

No. Twitch blocks chat until the address is confirmed, and the block applies everywhere at once. The link arrives in seconds, so verify while the inbox is still open rather than coming back later.

Why does one channel still refuse my messages?

Streamers can require a verified phone number, or a follow of a certain age, before chat is allowed. That is set per channel, so an account that chats fine in one place can be silent in another.

Is a temporary address enough to stream?

No. Going live needs two-factor authentication, which Twitch ties to a phone number, and payouts need identity and tax details. A temporary inbox covers the viewer side of Twitch and nothing beyond it.

What does Twitch send to this address?

The verification link, login alerts for new devices, password resets, and the notification mail about channels you follow. Subscription receipts arrive here too if you support a channel.

Can I move the account to a real email later?

Yes, from Settings → Security and Privacy, confirmed by a code sent to the new address. Twitch also emails the old one, so make the change while the temporary inbox is still accepting mail.

Will a temporary address stop me subscribing to a channel?

No, but paying attaches a real payment method to the account, and the receipts and any refund correspondence go to the registered address. That combination makes a throwaway inbox a poor fit for a channel you plan to support.

Does Twitch require a phone number as well?

For chatting in most channels, no. For streaming, enabling two-factor, or lifting the restrictions some channels apply to new accounts, Twitch asks for a verified phone number that no email address substitutes for.
