Do I need an email address for Reddit at all?

No. Reddit will create the account without one. The trade-off is that a forgotten password ends the account permanently, since there is no address for Reddit to send a reset link to.

Does Reddit block disposable email providers?

Reddit rejects a number of well-known throwaway domains at sign-up. If an address is refused, generate a new inbox on a different DustMail domain rather than retrying the same one.

Will a temporary address stop the "verify your email" nag?

Yes, as long as you actually click the link while the inbox is open. Reddit keeps prompting until the address is confirmed, and an unconfirmed address blocks some features such as receiving replies by mail.
